African American do have a darker skin tone and they can still fall victim to bed bug. Bed bugs on black skin are harder to see but there are some signs that a person can tell these bugs are present and go about treating them.
Bed bugs live in the mattress and when they bite they leave little red marks on the skin. These marks will not be as red in color on black skin. They will still be itchy and the skin will be raised slightly. If a person develops a rash this can be a sign that there are bed bugs. They should take every precaution to rid their home of these pests. If there are any signs of bumps or bites on their arm a person should wash their sheets and change their bedding. While they may be harder to spot bed bugs do not discriminate and will bite people with black skin.
